(CNN)-- Kylian Mbappé scored two goals and provided one assist, during a match that the French national team lost to England with a score of 4/6, at the Hard Rock Stadium, on Sunday night, in the third-place match of the 2026 World Cup.

Mbappé's two goals came in the 48th and 66th minutes from two shots inside the penalty area, while he provided a decisive pass to his teammate Bradley Barcola, who put the ball into the net in the 54th minute.

After his brace against the "Three Lions," Kylian Mbappé became the all-time top scorer in the World Cup with 22 goals, surpassing Argentine star Lionel Messi by one goal.

Mbappé also tops the tournament's scoring chart this edition with 10 goals, ahead of his pursuer Messi, who has 8 goals.

The 27-year-old became one of the players with the most goal involvements in a single edition of the tournament, with 14 contributions (10 goals and 4 assists).
