Didier Deschamps, the coach of the French national team, praised his player Kylian Mbappe after achieving victory over Morocco (2-0) on Wednesday evening, within the quarter-final competitions of the 2026 World Cup.

The match witnessed a noticeable retreat from the Moroccan team amid many attempts by France until the 60th minute, during which Mbappe succeeded in scoring the first goal with a rocket shot that Yassine Bounou failed to handle.

Deschamps said in statements after the match: "The opponent played clearly defensively and crowded with many players in front of the penalty area, but we have Mbappe and therefore we have no fear."

He added: "Mbappe was able to break this siege with a wonderful shot, and then we succeeded in scoring the second goal, and this is the result of complete control."

Regarding Mbappe's injury, Deschamps said: "No need to worry, he felt some pain in the ankle, so we preferred to replace him, and he will be ready for the next match."

He concluded: "We wasted many easy chances, but the most important thing is reaching the semi-finals, and that's what we wanted."
