(CNN) -- French player Kylian Mbappe reassured fans of the 'Roosters' about his injury sustained during the match against Morocco, describing it as a 'minor injury'.

Mbappe scored a goal that helped his country's team defeat the 'Atlas Lions' 2-0 at Gillette Stadium on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the 2026 World Cup.

Kylian Mbappe exited at minute 77 and his teammate Jean-Philippe Mateta came on as his replacement.

Mbappe was seen applying ice to his right foot while sitting on the bench, before joining his teammates in celebrating the victory and reaching the semifinals after the final whistle.

In comments reported by EuroSport on Friday night, Kylian said: 'I have a minor ankle injury, but I'm perfectly fine. Mateta was in a better position to play the remaining minutes of the match and was more fit at that moment. That's all that happened.'

The 27-year-old added: 'We know there is only one way to relax, and that's to win.'

He continued: 'We reached the semifinals and we are very happy, but we still have a long way to go. We know that what awaits us is harder than what we have faced so far, but we are ready for anything,' and he went on: 'We will recover calmly and watch the Spain vs Belgium match to see who we will face.'
