Data from Football Benchmark reveals a significant gap in market value between the two teams, with Spain's squad valued at around 1.47 billion euros compared to 818 million euros for Argentina, meaning the Spanish team's value is about 80% higher than that of the reigning champions.

A large part of this difference is due to young star Lamine Yamal, currently the highest market value player in the world, estimated at around 292.2 million euros. The Spanish team also features a low average age, with a mean of 26.7 years compared to 29.1 years for Argentina, which is one of the most experienced teams in the tournament.

Spanish superiority also appears in the ideal lineup based on players' market value, which includes seven players from Spain and exceeds one billion euros in total value, led by Lamine Yamal, along with Pedri (139 million euros) and Pau Cubarsí (110 million euros). In contrast, Enzo Fernández leads the list of Argentine players with a value of 104 million euros, followed by Julián Álvarez at 88 million.

Despite the economic gap, Argentina clearly excels in fan and media influence, with the total followers of the national team players on Instagram reaching about 667 million, compared to just 140 million for Spain's players.

Most of this advantage is due to Lionel Messi, whose followers exceed 512 million, making him the most influential figure in world football, even as he approaches the end of his international career.

The fan presence for Argentina was also reflected in its official accounts during the tournament, as the team's official account gained about 2.4 million followers between June 11 and July 14, a growth rate of 16.2%, while the Spanish team added about half a million followers, a growth rate of 6.7%.

Argentine dominance also continued at the level of the fastest-growing stars on social media, with the five fastest-growing players on the team adding 11.8 million new followers during the tournament, more than double the 5.6 million total growth of the top five Spanish players.

Messi topped the list after adding six million new followers, followed by Julián Álvarez, Emiliano Martínez, Leandro Paredes, and Lisandro Martínez, all of whom surpassed one million followers during the tournament.

On the physical front, fatigue levels could play a decisive role in the final, given the high pressure imposed by consecutive matches.

Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez tops the list of players with the most minutes played in the tournament among the two finalists, having played 795 full minutes without missing a single minute of his team's campaign.

He is followed by Alexis Mac Allister with 730 minutes, while the list includes five players from the Spanish team among the most featured: Marc Cucurella, Unai Simón, Pau Cubarsí, along with Aymeric Laporte and Rodri, all of whom exceeded 700 minutes.

This physical strain also worries European clubs, as the 2026-2027 season starts less than a month later, meaning many stars from both teams will return to their clubs without adequate preparation time.

But all these numbers will lose their value once the starting whistle blows. Spain enters the final with the highest market value squad and one of the strongest defenses in the tournament, along with exceptional talent represented by Lamine Yamal, who is the future of world football.

Argentina, on the other hand, enters the match as the reigning world champions, boasts the strongest attack in the tournament, and relies on the experience of Lionel Messi, who continues to defy time and exceed all expectations.

The numbers may outline the contours of the match, but they will not decide its outcome. As always, the real decision is made on the pitch.
