Moroccan Federation Renews Confidence in Ouhbi After World Cup Quarterfinal Exit
The Moroccan Football Federation renewed its confidence in Mohamed Ouhbi to continue his duties as head coach of the national team on Thursday, following an evaluation of the Atlas Lions' participation in the 2026 World Cup.
The Moroccan Federation wrote on its official Facebook page that the federation's executive office, headed by Fouzi Lekjaa, considered reaching the quarterfinals of the World Cup as a positive and honorable participation, stressing that the results achieved are an extension of the development path of Moroccan football in recent years.
The federation stressed the need to preserve and develop the team's achievements, aiming to reach further stages in the 2030 World Cup, and called for protecting the players and technical staff from rumors and misinformation.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the executive office officially announced the renewal of confidence in Mohamed Ouhbi to continue leading the Moroccan national team, according to the statement.
Morocco, led by Ouhbi who replaced Walid Regragui, bid farewell to the World Cup competition from the quarterfinals after a 2-0 defeat to France.
Ouhbi announced that he takes responsibility for the loss to France in the quarterfinals, but stressed that the Atlas Lions' journey in the tournament was positive and that the future of Moroccan football 'will be beautiful.'
