(CNN) -- Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, on the sidelines of the weekly government meeting at its headquarters in the new capital on Wednesday, sent a message of thanks to the 'Pharaohs' players after their journey in the 2026 World Cup ended.

The official account of the Egyptian Cabinet on social media platforms quoted Madbouly's message, which read: 'Mostafa Madbouly extended his sincere thanks and appreciation, on his own behalf and on behalf of the government members, to our national team, including the coaching staff, players, and administrators, for the courageous performance and unprecedented results achieved in the World Cup tournament. He also expressed thanks and appreciation to the board of directors of the Egyptian Football Association for their efforts during the recent period.'

Madbouly said in his message: 'We are proud of you, and we thank you all for the joy and happiness you brought to Egyptians, Arabs, Africans, and people around the world. Despite all the challenges, you have been an honorable model for Egyptian football. In yesterday's match (against Argentina), you were a tough opponent for the former world champion, and according to football experts from various countries, you earned respect and appreciation.'

He also extended 'deep thanks' to all the countries, officials, and peoples who supported the team throughout the tournament, as well as to all the Egyptian fans who backed the national team in the stadiums and at their accommodation.

The Egyptian Prime Minister continued: 'The heroic performance of our team showed the great sense of belonging among our youth and children, and that is what made me happiest in the tournament.' He added: 'Egyptian fans are waiting for you, let us celebrate together this achievement, this performance, and this dedication, and let us express our appreciation for your efforts amid many challenges in this biggest and most-watched tournament in the world.'

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad also issued a statement expressing its great appreciation and pride for the honorable national scenes demonstrated by members of Egyptian communities in various countries around the world, especially in the United States and Canada, in supporting and backing the national team during its participation in the World Cup.

The ministry stressed that 'the national solidarity shown by Egyptians abroad behind their country's team, and the unity, cohesion, and pride in national identity they reflected, embody the strength of the bonds that connect the nation's sons at home and abroad, and once again prove that Egyptians, wherever they are, remain the best ambassadors for their homeland, bearers of its message, and key partners in enhancing its presence and positive image on the international stage.'

It also praised the 'heroic performance and high technical level' presented by the 'Pharaohs' team.
