Uruguayan striker Darwin Núñez surprised many football fans by returning again to Al Hilal after the end of the rest he had following his participation with his national team in the World Cup, amidst ongoing negotiations for months to terminate his contract with the Saudi club.

Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo reported that Núñez is currently training with the Saudi club, although his future with the team is not decided.

It added that the Uruguayan striker and his representatives are closely monitoring Barcelona's moves as the club seeks to sign a new striker this summer, amid uncertainty surrounding the future of their player Ferran Torres, who is being tracked by Paris Saint-Germain.

The Catalan newspaper pointed out that Barcelona's priority is to sign Julián Álvarez, although completing the deal remains very difficult given Atlético Madrid's excessive financial demands.

It noted that the Uruguayan striker joined Al Hilal's camp in Austria in preparation for the new season and remains a suitable option for Barcelona officials due to his reduced price.

Uncertainty surrounds Núñez's future with Al Hilal amid the retention of coach Simone Inzaghi, who preferred Karim Benzema over the Uruguay national team striker.

Núñez has not played any official match for Al Hilal since February 16 due to the limitation on foreign player participation in domestic league and cup competitions, as he was excluded after signing Benzema.
