Officially: Al Ahly's Nightmare Takes Over Pyramids as Juricic's Replacement
Pyramids Club officially announced the signing of South African coach Rulani Mokwena to lead the first team in the upcoming period.
The club welcomed its new coach on its official accounts with the phrase: 'A new beginning full of ambition.. Welcome, Rulani Mokwena.'
The signing of Mokwena comes as part of Pyramids' management's efforts to start a new technical project to compete for all titles in the next season.
The South African Rulani Mokwena led his first training session with Pyramids at the Air Defense Stadium, in his first appearance after taking over the technical leadership as successor to Juricic, whose contract with the club ended at the end of last season.
The Egyptian public knows the young coach well, as he left the most prominent mark in one of the most famous CAF Champions League matches in recent years, when he led Sundowns to a 5-2 victory over Al Ahly on March 11, 2023, the only match in which Al Ahly's net conceded 5 goals under his leadership.
Mokwena is 38 years old, and is considered one of the most prominent coaches in the black continent, as he won the South African league title with Sundowns, and is known for his attacking style and modern tactical ideas, before his experience with Moroccan Wydad.
