The Royal Moroccan Football Federation has decided the fate of Mohamed Wahbi, the head coach of the senior national team, regarding his continued tenure with the 'Atlas Lions', following their exit from the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The Moroccan national team exited the 2026 World Cup in the quarter-finals after losing to France 2-0.

The official account of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation on 'X' published a video of Mr. Abdessalam Belegchour, President of the National Professional Football League, following a meeting of the Executive Board chaired by Fouzi Lekjaa.

In his statements, Belegchour said that the meeting evaluated Morocco's participation in the 2026 World Cup, considering that the 'Atlas Lions' achieved a significant accomplishment, four years before hosting the 2030 World Cup.

The president of the national league denounced some accusations against certain Moroccan national team players regarding negligence or conspiracy during the match against France in the World Cup quarter-finals, affirming that they delivered a heroic performance throughout the tournament.

Belegchour confirmed the renewal of confidence in Mohamed Wahbi to lead the Moroccan national team in the upcoming period, dispelling all doubts about his continued position.

Wahbi took over the leadership of the Moroccan national team last March, succeeding former coach Walid Regragui, leading the 'Atlas Lions' to qualify for the World Cup quarter-finals before suffering their only defeat against France.
