Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni gave his key players, including star Lionel Messi, a complete rest in training held Sunday at Kansas City complex, as part of physical recovery plan before facing England in the 2026 World Cup semifinal.

According to Argentine channel TYC, training was limited to substitute players and those who came off the bench in the match against Switzerland, while the starters watched from the stands after playing over 120 minutes in the exhausting quarterfinal.

Scaloni said in a press conference after qualification: 'We will recover, which I think is what we need and is the most important thing,' confirming that the current focus is on restoring players' energy and strength for the final stage.

The only player who moved under medical supervision was Nicolás González, who still suffers from pain from a bruise on his left ankle. He started training by stretching his injured leg for a few minutes before returning to light training.

In a positive development, medical sources inside the Argentine camp confirmed that Cristian Romero and Leandro Paredes, who had to come off during extra time against Switzerland due to physical problems, are not injured, and their substitution was due to fatigue and minor bruises.

Nicolás Otamendi replaced Romero in defense, while Paredes left the field to be replaced by José López, almost limping on one leg, but medical tests confirmed no serious injuries.

According to the initial plan, the team will remain in Kansas City until Monday morning, where they will hold a morning training session before traveling to Atlanta, the venue for the anticipated clash against the Three Lions.

The Argentine national team is scheduled to hold its first training session in Atlanta on Tuesday, followed by the usual press conference for Scaloni at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, one day before the decisive match that will determine one of the finalists.
