English club Bournemouth bolstered their first-team attack on Tuesday with the signing of Spanish-Uruguayan Álvaro Rodríguez from Elche, in a deal valued at £27.5 million. The 22-year-old scored seven goals in La Liga last season, including against Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid. Rodríguez, who has represented Spain U18 and Uruguay U20, becomes the first signing for new German manager Marco Rose after a standout season with Elche. Rodríguez came through the Real Madrid academy and made his first-team debut under Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti in January 2023, before a loan spell at Getafe and then joining Elche in 2025. Rodríguez told club media: 'It is a great honor to be here. I have always dreamed of playing in the Premier League, and now, on my birthday, this dream has come true.'
