The Saudi Professional League announced the Saudi League match schedule for the 2026-2027 season, which kicks off on August 13 and concludes on May 29, 2027, featuring 306 matches spread over 34 rounds.

The league also revealed the dates for the first six rounds along with the full schedule. Al-Nassr, the reigning champion, begins its campaign against Al-Fateh, while Al-Hilal will face Al-Faisaly, Al-Ahli meets Al-Diriyah, Al-Ittihad takes on Al-Kholood, and Al-Qadsiah faces Al-Shabab.

According to the schedule, the third round will feature the first major clash, bringing together Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli, while the Al-Ittihad vs. Al-Nassr classic will take place in round five, and the Al-Hilal vs. Al-Ittihad summit will be in round eight, followed by Al-Ahli vs. Al-Nassr in the subsequent round.

The league confirmed that the schedule was prepared after studying several factors (Saudi League).

Sports fans will have a highly anticipated date in round 15 with the Jeddah derby between Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahli, while the capital summit between Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal will be in round 17.

The second round will see the first appearance of the big clubs in the Eastern Province, as Al-Ittihad faces Al-Qadsiah, while Al-Nassr will appear in round three to meet Al-Ettifaq, Al-Hilal meets Al-Khaleej in round four, and Al-Ahli faces Al-Qadsiah in round six.

After the league revealed the dates for the first six rounds, Thursday, August 13, will witness three matches: Al-Hazem faces Abha, Al-Shabab meets Al-Qadsiah, and Al-Diriyah takes on Al-Ahli. Friday will see matches between Neom and Al-Feiha, Al-Ettifaq and Al-Riyadh, and Al-Hilal against Al-Faisaly. On Saturday, the first round concludes with Al-Taawoun vs. Al-Khaleej, Al-Ittihad vs. Al-Kholood, and Al-Nassr against Al-Fateh.

According to the league, the schedule announcement comes after the league held a workshop with all clubs to review the scheduling mechanism and the sports calendar for the season, and gave all clubs the opportunity to submit their requests regarding match sequences and scheduling before finalizing and approving the schedule.

The league revealed that the schedule was prepared amid a calendar experiencing exceptional density of international, continental, and local commitments, as eight Saudi clubs will participate in four external tournaments next season, along with FIFA international breaks, the Saudi national team's participation, and hosting the 2027 Asian Cup.

It pointed out that given the overlap of these commitments, only 102 days are available to schedule the 306 matches of the Saudi Roshn League across 34 rounds.

The action returns to the Saudi League stadiums with the first round competitions (Saudi League).

According to the league, the schedule was built based on 10 main criteria aimed at achieving balance and regularity of competition, most notably that no club plays more than two consecutive home or away matches, that each club plays one home and one away match in the first two and last two rounds of the season, and that the rest period between two consecutive matches for any club is no less than two days, regardless of the competition in which it participates.

The league also revealed that a classification of clubs into four levels was included, aiming to achieve balance in match sequencing and reduce the accumulation of difficult matches in close time periods, so that no club faces level 'A' teams in two consecutive rounds.

The classification of clubs is as follows: Level one includes Al-Nassr, Al-Hilal, Al-Ahli, Al-Qadsiah, and Al-Ittihad.

Level two includes Al-Taawoun, Al-Ettifaq, Al-Fateh, Al-Khaleej, and Al-Shabab. Level three includes Neom, Al-Hazem, Al-Feiha, and Al-Kholood. Finally, level four includes Al-Riyadh, Abha, Al-Faisaly, and Al-Diriyah.

The league revealed that the classification was based on the clubs' sporting performance according to an evaluation mechanism that calculates results from three seasons, applying fixed time weights that give greater weight to the most recent season, providing a more balanced basis for distributing clubs across the levels used in building the match sequence.

It indicated that representing the operational requirements and availability of stadiums amid commitments related to regional, continental, and international hosting was one of the influencing factors in determining the match sequence and venues.

The league confirmed that the schedule was prepared in light of studying these combined factors, achieving the best possible balance between the regularity and competitive fairness of the competition, the participation of various clubs, operational requirements related to stadiums, and the fan experience.
