The president of the Senegalese Football Federation, Abdoulaye Fall, revealed in a stormy press conference held on Monday that the first team doctor, Abdourahmane Fedior, who spent ten years in his position, is originally a gynecologist and obstetrician, and was not academically qualified for the medical supervision of the players.

Fall said: "We discovered after verification that the first team doctor, who has been working with the Lions of Teranga for 10 years, is essentially a gynecologist and obstetrician, and was not academically qualified to supervise the players, in addition to the fact that the players did not trust him or his treatment plans."

This scandal comes as part of a series of successive crises that have rocked the Senegalese national team during its participation in the 2026 World Cup in the United States, as players complained about the federation's refusal to cover the travel costs of the team's cook in order to save expenses, forcing them to rely on food delivery apps to secure their daily meals.

These accumulated crises resulted in the dismissal of coach Pape Thiaw, before the team bid an early farewell to the tournament in the round of 32, following a 3-2 loss to Belgium.
