One of the stars of the French national team dropped a bombshell about Morocco's level in the match that brought the two sides together on Thursday evening, as part of the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup.

The French national team secured a 2-0 victory over their Moroccan counterparts, advancing to the semi-finals, where they await the winner of Belgium vs Spain.

Rabiot said in comments after the match: "We had nothing to fear from this team; that was the impression we had while playing."

He added: "Even when they had the ball, we didn't feel any danger. We were superior in all technical and tactical aspects."

He continued: "After the match, I spoke with Raphael Raymond, the media officer for the French national team, who told me he felt this team was slightly less strong compared to the 2022 version."

Rabiot admitted he was greatly surprised by Morocco's style, saying: "They played with a strange defensive block; it's rare to see them like this. We thought they would be more daring, but we managed to provoke them, put them under pressure, outmuscled them physically, and in the end they were forced to retreat in this manner."
