(CNN)-- Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received the players of the 'Pharaohs' national team, along with the technical and administrative staff, in El Alamein on Saturday.

El-Sisi addressed the team members, awarding them the Meritorious Cup and honorary medals in recognition of their performance in the 2026 World Cup, and commemorative photos were taken.

During his speech, the Egyptian president said: 'We as Egyptians are capable of production, our people are great and love sports, especially football.'

El-Sisi added: 'It's impossible that out of 120 million (people) there are not, oh Mohamed Salah, don't be upset with me, meaning, there are not many Mohamed Salahs and Shobeirs and everyone in front of me, so that I don't forget anyone, no, there are many,' a remark that went viral.

He continued: 'We, as those concerned with this sport, need impartial scouts to see the young person who has an opportunity and support him. As a state, we are ready to provide any support to talents and abilities, and we will do everything possible to give them the opportunity they deserve.'

Salah's teammates had reached the round of 16 in the World Cup, held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, for the first time in Egypt's history.

Salah's companions drew 1-1 with Belgium and Iran in the group stage, beat New Zealand 3-1, then defeated Australia on penalties in the round of 32, before losing to defending champions Argentina 3-2 in the round of 16.
