Spain reached the final of the 2026 World Cup after a deserved 2-0 victory over France in the semifinal match played on Tuesday evening at the Dallas Stadium in Texas, USA.

Spain opened the scoring in the 22nd minute through Mikel Oyarzabal from a penalty kick, which was earned by Lamine Yamal after a foul by French defender Lucas Digne inside the penalty area.

In the second half, Pedro Porro doubled La Roja's lead with a second goal in the 58th minute, after capitalizing on a well-organized attack and going one-on-one with goalkeeper Mike Maignan to slot the ball into the net, while the referee disallowed a third goal scored by Lamine Yamal two minutes later for offside.

With this win, Spain qualified for the World Cup final for the second time in its history, having first reached the final in 2010, when it won the title against the Netherlands with Andres Iniesta's famous goal.

In the final, Spain awaits the winner of the other semifinal between England and Argentina, scheduled for Wednesday evening, with the final to be played on July 19.

Spain continued its strong performances in the tournament, having defeated Belgium 2-1 in the quarterfinals. La Roja had topped their group after a draw with Cape Verde, then wins over Saudi Arabia 4-0 and Uruguay 1-0, before eliminating Austria with a clean 3-0 in the Round of 32, and then knocking out Portugal 1-0 in the Round of 16.

On the other hand, France's run ended at the semifinal stage despite a strong performance throughout the tournament. Les Bleus had topped their group with a perfect record after wins over Senegal, Iraq, and Norway, then overcame Sweden in the Round of 32, eliminated Paraguay in the Round of 16, before defeating Morocco in the quarterfinals, only to fall to Spain and see their dream of reaching the final shattered.
