Spain's Star: Mbappé Doesn't Scare Us... I Imagined Myself Winning the World Cup
Despite his young age, Pau Cubarsí has already faced most of the French national team stars.
He said, 'I've trained with Ousmane Dembélé in some sessions. You have to be careful with him because he is good with both feet and can get past you from either side.'
Cubarsí also recalled memories of the 2024 Paris Olympics final, when he faced Doué, Olise, and Mateta.
The 'Matador' player said, 'It was a tough match. We were 1-0 down against France in Paris, then we turned it around to 3-1. But football is ruthless; they came back and equalized. It seemed like everything was falling apart and we were done, but in the end we achieved an exceptional and unique result.'
Cubarsí stressed, 'Kylian Mbappé does not scare us, but he can change the game; he has abilities that everyone knows, because even if he is not present in the match, he can change it in one play. He is a unique player, just like Lamine. We have to stay fully focused for 90 minutes.'
Cubarsí praised Barcelona coach Hansi Flick, saying, 'Since his arrival, he trusted me even though I couldn't go through the first pre-season with him due to my participation in the Olympics.'
At the end of the conversation, Cubarsí was asked if he had imagined himself holding the World Cup, and he replied smiling, 'Yes, of course. Since childhood, any player can imagine that. But when you are here and close to the goal, you start to imagine the celebration more, and you imagine the moment of lifting the cup.'
