Spanish media reports have revealed that Qatar is entering the race to host the 2027 Spanish Super Cup, which was originally scheduled to be hosted by Saudi Arabia but was postponed due to the latter hosting the AFC Asian Cup at the same time. Spanish journalist Abik Dib, of the sports website One Football, reported that Doha is likely to host the upcoming 2027 edition, while sources also indicated that Egypt is vying for the same edition. It is worth noting that the hosting contract for the Spanish Super Cup, signed between the Spanish Football Federation and the Saudi Ministry of Sports in 2019, runs until 2030, and the tournament has been transformed into a four-team format featuring the league champion and runner-up, and the cup champion and runner-up. Saudi Arabia has hosted six editions in recent years, three in Jeddah and three in Riyadh.
