Successful surgery for French defender Lucas Hernandez

Injured in his national team's match against Australia:

Doha, November 25 (QNA) - French defender Lucas Hernandez underwent a successful surgery on his right knee after sustaining a serious injury at the start of France's campaign in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Hernandez is expected to be sidelined for at least six months, which will make him miss the rest of the current season with his club Bayern Munich, champions of Germany for the past ten seasons.

Hernandez, who started the match in which France beat Australia 4-1 last Tuesday, was injured when he attempted to intercept the ball that led to Australia's first goal in the ninth minute. He left the field and was replaced by his brother Theo Hernandez.

France, the defending champions, top Group D of the World Cup with 3 points, ahead of Tunisia and Denmark who each have one point, while Australia are at the bottom with no points.
