Surprise: Al-Ahli Considers Dropping Another Star After Mahrez and Kessie!
Reports indicate that Saudi club Al-Ahli is considering selling the contract of another foreign star after offloading Riyad Mahrez and Franck Kessie.
The management of Saudi club Al-Ahli is planning to offload another foreign star, following the decision to drop the duo of Algerian Riyad Mahrez and Ivorian Franck Kessie during the summer transfer window.
Al-Ahli announced Kessie's departure after three years at the club, and the same applies to Mahrez, pending only the official announcement.
According to Saudi journalist Mohammed Al-Bakri, Al-Ahli officials have opened the door to marketing the contract of Brazilian defender Roger Ibañez, amid interest from several European clubs in acquiring his services during the summer transfer window.
Al-Bakri indicated that the main reason for this move is Ibañez's refusal to extend his current contract, which still runs until summer 2028. The management wants to add two more years to his contract, but the player has not yet given his approval.

He added that the sporting management does not want to repeat the scenario of a star leaving without achieving appropriate financial benefit, so it has started considering selling the player if his refusal to renew continues.
According to the same source, the Brazilian defender's annual salary does not exceed €9 million, which makes his move to Europe a strong option if the parties reach an agreement in the coming weeks.
Ibañez is considered one of the top defenders in the Saudi Roshn League, and he played a key role in Al-Ahli's achievements, most notably winning the AFC Champions League Elite title.
