(CNN) – Former German midfielder Toni Kroos commented on Spain's 2026 World Cup title win over Argentina, saying 'football won' in reference to Spain's superiority on the pitch.
Kroos wrote on his page on platform 'X', formerly Twitter, after the match: 'Football won', sparking reactions on social media.
The Spanish team shone in the final and dominated their match against Argentina in the final, preventing their opponent from shooting on goal until extra time.
Spain won 1-0 in the final with a goal scored by Ferran Torres in the 106th minute of the match.
La Roja secured their second title in history, equaling the record of France and Uruguay.
