As the mechanic moved to adjust the wing, the tire change was completed and the jacks were lowered, causing the green light to come on for the start, and the front wheel of Hamilton's car struck the mechanic, knocking him to the ground. Formula One stewards said after a hearing that Ferrari admitted to an unsafe release, attributing the error to 'inappropriately late instructions for the wing adjustment, lack of clear communication, and the mechanic's inattention to the green light.' The team was fined 30,000 euros, with 10,000 suspended for one year. Hamilton was not penalized because he 'did not make any mistake in any way shape or form,' but was actually harmed by his immediate stop to ensure the mechanic was away from the car. Hamilton, who finished the race in fourth place and now sits second in the world championship standings behind Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli, told reporters: 'I'm just grateful that the mechanic wasn't hurt.'
