The International Football Federation (FIFA) announced on Saturday the cancellation of Spain's final training session before the World Cup final against Argentina on Sunday, due to thunderstorms.

FIFA added that there would be no other time for the team to train, but did not mention whether Argentina's training session, scheduled for 11:30 am local time (15:30 GMT), would go ahead as planned.

The Spanish Football Federation said in a statement: "The Spanish national team's training session at the Melanie Lynn training center in New Jersey has been suspended, in accordance with the thunderstorm safety protocol in the United States."

He added: "The players are currently doing an internal warm-up session."
