Olise Requests Meeting with Bayern, Pushes for Real Madrid Move
France international Michael Olise, forward for Bayern Munich, is awaiting a meeting with his club after the World Cup to discuss his future amid his desire to join Real Madrid in the summer transfer window. Although the Spanish club has made no clear move out of respect for Bayern, Olise, 24, has told teammates—especially Real stars Kylian Mbappé and Aurélien Tchouaméni—that he wants to sign for Los Blancos, according to French newspaper L'Équipe, which published his photo on its Thursday cover in the France kit under the headline "Michael Olise… a desire for Real." Madrid-based dailies AS and Marca, citing L'Équipe, reported that Bayern is fully aware it has a situation to manage: the player is seeking clarity on his role in the team. AS noted that Olise, who started the World Cup as a playmaker but faded entirely in the semifinal against Spain, still attracts interest from Europe's top clubs. It added that high expectations surround the upcoming meeting with Bayern's leaders, who hope to convince the French international not to take a negative step or adopt positions that could lead to his departure. However, the problem—and the solution—lies with Bayern: improving the player's contract, changing his status within the team, and acknowledging the success he achieved last season. Marca, meanwhile, suggested that Olise could be the next big signing for Real president Florentino Pérez, after his name emerged in speculation during the presidential election, when Pérez mentioned preparing a €150 million offer for a global star. But the focus had been on Argentine Julián Álvarez, forward for Atlético Madrid. It added: "In any case, the possibility of Olise's departure points to a record fee or one very close to surpassing the transfer cost of Brazilian Neymar from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain, which required paying the €222 million release clause." The newspaper noted that although the World Cup did not give the player a boost, it must be acknowledged that Olise is now one of the most sought-after players in European football. Olise arrived at Bayern Munich in July 2024 from English club Crystal Palace, and has played 107 matches in all competitions for the Bavarians, scoring 42 goals and providing 54 assists. The England-born player has represented France in 24 matches, scoring seven goals.
