(CNN)-- Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou and his teammates in the 'Atlas Lions' lost to France 2-0 in a match held at the 'Gillette' Stadium on Thursday, in the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup.
Bounou saved a penalty taken by Kylian Mbappé, but his net was breached by two shots from Real Madrid player and his teammate Ousmane Dembélé in the 60th and 66th minutes.
Signs of sadness and disappointment were evident on Yassine Bounou after the final whistle and his country's elimination from the World Cup, being held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
At that moment, Dembélé approached Bounou, shook his hand, hugged him, and spoke to him, showing support and consolation.
Ousmane Dembélé's teammates will face Spain or Belgium in the semi-finals on July 14.
