Al-Ittihad started its friendly matches in its preparatory camp in Spain with a 3-2 victory over South Africa's Orlando Pirates, as part of its preparations for the new season.

Moroccan Youssef En-Nesyri opened the scoring early in the 10th minute after a pass from Abdulrahman Al-Aboud, before Moussa Diaby added the second goal in stoppage time of the first half, ending the first 45 minutes with Al-Ittihad leading 2-1.

In the second half, Al-Ittihad continued its dominance, before Jorge completed the hat-trick in the 85th minute, benefiting from a pass from Roger. The match saw several substitutions by the coach, as Hamed Al-Ghamdi left in the 15th minute and was replaced by Faisal Al-Ghamdi, before Kossem Kouyate came on for Faisal in the 65th minute. The coaching staff also brought on Fawaz Al-Soqoor, Brent Ortega, and Mateo Borel in the 75th minute, replacing Ahmed Al-Julidan, Farhah Al-Shamrani, and Abdulilah Hawsawi, to give as many players as possible the opportunity to participate during the match.
