Urgent: Koulibaly Attacks Divisions After Senegal's Exit: Do Not Waste Years of Achievements
Kalidou Koulibaly, captain of the Senegal national team, called for a comprehensive review of the situation within Senegalese football, warning against the continuation of the disputes that followed the elimination of the "Lions of Teranga" from the World Cup, stressing that the crisis has gone beyond results to affect the country's image.
The Senegalese defender posted a message on his Instagram account on Tuesday, criticizing what he described as conflicts of interest and selfishness, calling on all parties to show wisdom and take responsibility, in order to preserve the achievements made in recent years, so that future generations can continue to dream and achieve success.

Koulibaly emphasized that responsibility does not lie with one party alone, but that everyone must acknowledge their role in what happened, noting that the continuation of the current situation will lead to a decline in Senegalese football instead of developing it. He concluded his message with an optimistic note, asserting that "the lion may fall, but it always rises." Koulibaly's comments came in the wake of a turbulent period experienced by the team after bidding farewell to the World Cup in the round of 32 with a loss to Belgium, despite qualifying for the knockout stages among the best third-placed teams. The elimination sparked a series of developments, as midfielder Pape Gueye announced the suspension of his international participation, stating that he would not return to represent the team as long as the current technical staff remains, before the Senegalese Football Federation later decided to dismiss coach Pape Thiaw. These decisions coincided with mutual accusations among Senegalese football officials regarding the reasons for the failure in the World Cup, which prompted Koulibaly to intervene and call for overcoming differences and working with a sense of responsibility for the future of the national team.
