Veteran Scottish goalkeeper Craig Gordon has ended his career on the football pitch, officially announcing his retirement on Thursday, putting an end to a storied career spanning more than two decades.
Gordon, aged 43, chose to deliver his farewell message via a video posted on his official accounts, expressing his gratitude for everything he experienced during his professional journey, stressing that the decision to retire was not easy, but comes at the end of an exceptional phase of his football life.

Gordon was present in Scotland's squad for the 2026 World Cup finals, becoming the oldest player in the tournament, but he did not play in any match, as the coaching staff opted to rely on goalkeeper Angus Gunn, while he remained in a backup role throughout the competition. During his international career, Gordon wore the Scotland shirt in 84 matches, while he played 682 matches at club level, representing Heart of Midlothian, Cowdenbeath, Celtic, and also his experience in the English league with Sunderland, leaving behind a rich record of achievements and experience.
