Video: A scene that will haunt him for years.. Sørloth disappoints Haaland and kills Norway's dream
Norway was just one pass away from putting a foot in the 2026 World Cup semifinals, before the chance that might haunt them for years slipped away, in a moment many consider the real turning point against England.
England won 2-1 against Norway after the latter had taken the lead, while they missed another chance in a moment where Alexander Sørloth needed selflessness.
Norway had taken the lead late in the first half with a brilliant goal by Andreas Schjelderup, before continuing their pressure in search of a second goal.
In the 44th minute, Alexander Sørloth launched a counterattack, while Erling Haaland was completely alone on the left side waiting for a pass that would have put him one-on-one with the goal.

But the Atlético Madrid striker preferred to keep the ball and try to score himself, before the English defense closed the space on him and it ended with a failed shot. Three minutes later, Jude Bellingham managed to equalize 1-1.
The Swiss newspaper Blick commented: "Although the Norwegian fans did not blame Sørloth for the elimination, many believed that just one pass would have given Haaland an almost certain scoring chance, which would have given Norway a two-goal advantage and made England's comeback much more difficult."
Instead, Jude Bellingham secured England's win early in the first extra time period, giving them the qualification ticket in extra time with a second goal.
England prepares to face Argentina in the semifinals next Wednesday.
