Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli suffered a heavy defeat in their second friendly match of their external training camp in Austria, as they prepare for the new 2026-2027 football season.

Al-Ahli lost 4-1 to Holstein Kiel, a team that plays in the German second division, in the match held on Wednesday at the Austria camp.

Strangely, Al-Ahli opened the scoring in the 21st minute through their Brazilian striker Ricardo Matias.

Matias capitalized on a powerful ground shot from his compatriot Mateus Gonçalves from the edge of the penalty area; the German goalkeeper saved it, but the ball fell to Matias in front of an empty net, and he placed it into the back of the net.

However, Holstein Kiel quickly turned the game around, scoring two goals before the end of the first half and two more in the second half, finishing the match with a 4-1 victory.

Al-Ahli's German head coach, Matthias Jaissle, was keen to try out many players by fielding two different lineups over the two halves.

The match saw left-back Zakaria Hawsawi get injured in the 15th minute of the first half, while new Gambian defender Abubakr Sidi Kinteh missed his second consecutive match.

It is worth noting that the match against Holstein Kiel was Al-Ahli's second friendly in their external camp in Austria, following an 8-0 win in the first match against Austrian side Saalfelden.
