Gavi, the Spanish national team star, refused to echo the tone of leniency against Belgium in the World Cup quarter-finals.

Gavi said in statements published by Marca: 'I don't like talking about Spain being considered the top favorite to win. Belgium has great players, just like Portugal did.'

He added: 'We have to do our job in the best possible way, and if we do that, things will certainly go well. The most important thing now is to beat Belgium.'

When asked which team he would prefer to face in the next round, France or Morocco, he replied: 'Both are great teams, but I would choose Morocco because they eliminated us in the Qatar World Cup.'

He stressed: 'I came here to win the World Cup. The coach knows me better than anyone else. We all want to play more, but what really matters is winning the World Cup. And he knows he can count on me for whatever he wants.'

Regarding his desire to be decisive in the remainder of the tournament, he commented: 'Of course I hope to be an important player in the World Cup.'

He noted: 'I dream of scoring the winning goal. I have always dreamed of scoring a bicycle kick in a World Cup final. They are just dreams, and I hope they come true. As for the opponent? I would like it to be Argentina because of Messi, but as long as we reach the final, it doesn't matter who the opponent is.'

He concluded: 'I am a player characterized by enthusiasm and intensity, and everyone knows that. It is natural that some of my teammates get annoyed with me sometimes. But I always try to think about the team's interest, whether I play or not.'
