Yamal Provokes France with Two Images Ahead of Semifinal
Lamine Yamal posted two Instagram stories referencing his goals against France in the 2025 Nations League, adding psychological pressure before the World Cup semifinal.
Lamine Yamal, the star of the Spanish national team, continued to raise the excitement ahead of the anticipated clash against France in the 2026 World Cup semifinal on Tuesday evening, after posting messages on his Instagram account carrying a provocative tone towards 'Les Bleus', in the latest chapter of the psychological warfare preceding the summit.
In recent days, Yamal had made several statements expressing his strong confidence in the Spanish team's ability to overcome France and reach the final, before reinforcing those messages with two posts on his official account's story feature, just hours before the kickoff.
The Barcelona player's posts were a clear reference to the last meeting between the two teams, when Spain defeated France 5-4 in the 2025 UEFA Nations League semifinal, as he shared a picture of one of his goals and then his celebration.
That match saw Spain dominate for 58 minutes, before the French team fought back but could not avoid defeat, allowing 'La Roja' to secure a spot in the final.
Lamine Yamal was one of the standout stars of that match, scoring two goals against France in the game held in Stuttgart, Germany.
Before that match, the Spanish star had engaged in a media rivalry with Frenchman Ousmane Dembélé, amid comparisons between them in the race for the Ballon d'Or.
Despite overcoming France, Spain failed to win the title, losing the final to Portugal.
