Sources confirmed to Al-Riyadiyah that Al-Shabab received approval on Friday from the financial control committee of the recruitment program to sign Croatian defender Tin Jedvaj. The sources stated that the player has been in Al-Shabab's preparatory camp in Austria for two days, after agreeing to join the team from Greek club Panathinaikos. The 30-year-old Croatian was chosen to replace Dutch defender Wesley Hoedt, who left Al-Shabab after last season. Jedvaj played 21 matches for Panathinaikos last season, scoring four goals. The Croatian represented his country between 2014 and 2020, participating in Euro 2016 and the 2018 World Cup. Before his stint in Greece, he played for Bayer Leverkusen and Augsburg in Germany, AS Roma in Italy, Lokomotiv Moscow in Russia, and Al-Ain in the UAE. Al-Shabab is currently training in Austria under the leadership of new coach Thomas Letsch, preparing for the 2026-2027 season. The team finished last season in 13th place with 35 points, under the technical direction of Spanish coach Imanol Alguacil and then Algerian Noureddine Zekri.
