Below are 3 settings to adjust on WhatsApp to reduce your phone's battery consumption:
1- Disable automatic media file downloads:
WhatsApp by default allows many media files to download in the background, which drains your phone battery faster. Therefore, you can disable the automatic media download feature when using mobile data and Wi-Fi. This way, videos and images sent in messages will only download when you tap on them. You can do this as follows:
Go to the WhatsApp application on your phone.
Tap the three dots icon at the top right of the screen, then tap 'Settings'.
Tap 'Data and storage usage' option.
Under the 'Media auto-download' section,
Tap 'When using mobile data' option, then uncheck the checkbox next to photos, audio files, videos, and documents as you wish.
Then do the same step for the 'When connected to Wi-Fi' option. This will stop the automatic download of multimedia items, and you can download them manually by tapping on them.

2- Adjust WhatsApp notifications:
If you use WhatsApp frequently throughout the day, the notifications you receive during the day undoubtedly drain your phone battery quickly. Therefore, you should adjust notifications from within the app to receive only important notifications, and disable the vibration feature when receiving notifications if it is enabled. Follow these steps:
Go to the WhatsApp application on your phone.
Tap the three dots icon at the top right of the screen, then tap 'Settings'.
Tap 'Notifications' option.
From here, you can change how you receive notifications for messages, groups, and calls by adjusting the incoming and outgoing message sound to 'On' or 'Off'; disable vibration, and also disable pop-up notifications.

3- Activate a dark background:
Dark mode is one of the main reasons to extend battery life, but it is not yet available in the official version of the app. However, you can activate a black or gray background for chats, as reports indicate that black pixels consume significantly less energy than other colors.
Go to the WhatsApp application on your phone.
Tap the three dots icon at the top right of the screen, then tap 'Settings'.
Tap 'Chats' option.
Tap 'Wallpaper' option, then tap 'Solid color' option, where you can choose black or gray.
