Apple raised prices of iPhones and some other products in Japan, as the yen continues to trade near its lowest levels in four decades.

The starting price for the basic iPhone 17 with 256GB storage reached 142,800 yen ($879.29) on Apple's official website in Japan on Saturday morning, an increase of about 10% from the previous price of 129,800 yen, as monitored by Bloomberg News.

The price of the iPhone 17 Pro with the same storage capacity also rose to 194,800 yen, an increase of 8.3% compared to the previous price of 179,800 yen, according to a Bloomberg report seen by Al Arabiya Business.

The increases also included other products such as Apple Watches and AirPods, with some models seeing price hikes of up to 10%.

An Apple spokesperson in Japan declined to comment on the new prices.

Apple's move is not unusual in Japan, where many local retailers have been forced to raise prices of imported products as the yen remains at low levels.

Just three weeks ago, Apple, based in Cupertino, California, raised prices of Mac, iPad, home devices, and Vision Pro globally due to ongoing memory chip shortages.

Those increases did not include iPhones, AirPods, or Apple Watches at the time.

There are still no indications that Apple plans to raise iPhone prices in other markets outside Japan, according to Bloomberg.
