Nokia Signs Deal with Taiwan Mobile to Expand 5G Services
Finnish telecommunications equipment maker Nokia announced on Tuesday that it has signed an agreement with Taiwanese telecom operator Taiwan Mobile to expand 5G services.
The deal aims to accelerate the shift towards AI-powered mobile communications networks across Taiwan.
According to the terms of the agreement, Nokia will supply its latest portfolio of products known as 'AirScale', including new-generation baseband and radio solutions, along with advanced software to enhance Taiwan Mobile's existing network infrastructure, enable new 5G services, and increase opportunities for network upgrades, as reported by German news agency dpa.
Nokia will also implement 'AI for Network', 'Network for AI', 'AI for Energy', and 'AI for Geostrategy' technologies, allowing the use of AI capabilities in managing network data, infrastructure, and energy systems while enabling advanced 5G services.
Meanwhile, Nokia's energy-efficient equipment and AI-powered software will help Taiwan Mobile reduce energy consumption, enable more sustainable network operations, and support its ambition to build a low-carbon, high-efficiency communications network.
