Elon Musk denied the validity of a report published by the Wall Street Journal indicating that SpaceX showcased a prototype smartphone focused on artificial intelligence to investors and interested parties, ahead of the company's anticipated initial public offering.

Musk said on his X account: 'This is completely untrue,' without providing further details.

The report had indicated that the device under development uses a proprietary operating system, incorporates AI technologies from xAI, and uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon processors.

The newspaper added that the project is still in its early stages, and there are no guarantees yet that it will be completed or brought to market.

It is worth noting that SpaceX continues its investments in AI infrastructure, large language models such as Grok from xAI, and plans for space computing as part of its efforts to expand beyond space launch and satellite internet.

SpaceX is studying launching a Starlink network for mobile phones to compete with major telecom companies.

Other sources said the company previously discussed developing a device connected to the Starlink satellite internet system as a competitor to smartphones, although Musk previously indicated that producing a Starlink phone 'is not ruled out in the future.'

This comes at a time when major tech companies like Microsoft are experimenting with AI-powered smart devices, such as work badges equipped with AI and Qualcomm processors. No official comment has been issued by SpaceX or Qualcomm regarding these reports so far.
