Google has announced a new feature called Video Remix in its Google Photos app, enabling users to edit and transform videos into creative clips in just a few seconds using artificial intelligence technologies.

The feature relies on the Gemini Omni model, recently launched by Google, which is capable of generating diverse content from various types of inputs.

Video Editing Without Experience

Video Remix is part of Google's efforts to expand the presence of generative AI tools within its apps, amid increasing competition with companies like Apple, OpenAI, and Adobe, according to a report published by TechCrunch and reviewed by Al Arabiya Business.

Instead of resorting to professional video editing software, users can now make advanced edits directly within the Google Photos app with just a few clicks.

Cinematic Effects and Artistic Touches

The new feature can be accessed via the Create tab within the app, allowing a wide range of edits, including:

- Improving cinematic lighting for dark clips.

- Replacing video backgrounds with different ones.

Adding artistic effects such as:

- Watercolor painting.

- Sketchbook style.

- Oil paintings.

For example, the user can make the video look as if it were filmed inside a glass house, add warm morning lighting, or turn it into a watercolor painting.

Google emphasized in its statement that "creating beautiful videos should not require professional skills or hours of editing," noting that Video Remix allows transforming ordinary clips into ready-to-share videos in moments.

Available in Egypt and Several Countries

Google began rolling out the feature as of today for eligible subscribers of Google AI Plus, Google AI Pro, and Google AI Ultra plans.

The service is available in a number of countries, including the United States, Egypt, India, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, Argentina, Turkey, Indonesia, Mexico, Philippines, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Colombia.

A Series of AI Features

Video Remix is the latest addition to the suite of AI-powered features in Google Photos.

Google recently launched new photo enhancement tools, including removing minor blemishes, improving skin texture, enhancing eyes, and naturally whitening teeth.

The company also revealed another AI-powered feature that turns clothing photos into a digital wardrobe, allowing users to create new outfits and try on clothes virtually before wearing them.
