Huawei intends to launch its new phone Mate XT 2 with a tri-fold design, focusing particularly on improving battery performance. According to new leaks via Weibo, the company plans to increase the silicon content in the device's battery, allowing higher capacity and greater charging efficiency without increasing the phone's size.

It is noted that composite silicon batteries are among the recent innovations in the smartphone market, with companies like Honor having adopted this technology since 2025.

Silicon batteries enhance the battery's ability to store more lithium ions, providing higher energy density compared to traditional graphite-based batteries, along with better compatibility with fast chargers and improved cooling during operation.

The anticipated Mate XT 2 may come with a larger battery capacity than its predecessor, which reached 5600 mAh, with a clear increase in efficiency and reliability.

The leaks also indicate Huawei's intention to improve the 'first screen' and use a new folding design closer to a U-shape instead of the previous G-design, with a focus on enhancing battery reliability to align with design changes.

Through the Mate XT 2, Huawei aims to cement its leadership in the foldable phone market, following its success with the first tri-fold display phone.
