Leaks: Foldable iPhone Ultra Battery Could Outperform Galaxy Z Fold 8
Leaks suggest Apple's first foldable iPhone, expected in 2026, may feature a battery capacity of 4,883 mAh, beating the Galaxy Z Fold 8's 4,800 mAh and approaching the Fold 8 Ultra's 5,000 mAh.
Leaks indicate that 2026 will see fierce competition in the foldable phone market as Apple enters the segment for the first time with a potential new phone called the iPhone Ultra, expected to be unveiled next September.
In response, Samsung is preparing to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, with announcements expected later this July.
Tech sources reported that the iPhone Ultra will feature a dual battery with manufacturing capacities of 1,921 and 2,962 mAh, bringing the total rated capacity to 4,883 mAh.
In contrast, leaks suggest the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will have a nominal battery capacity of 4,800 mAh, while the Fold 8 Ultra will pack a 5,000 mAh battery.
Based on these figures, the iPhone Ultra's battery surpasses the Fold 8's capacity and comes very close to the Fold 8 Ultra's.
The first foldable iPhone will come with a dual battery capacity lower than the iPhone 18 Pro Max.
This comes despite differences in measurement methods: Apple reports rated capacity while Samsung typically uses nominal capacity.
It is worth noting that Apple often achieves longer battery life in its devices compared to competitors using similar batteries, thanks to hardware-software integration.
This could give the iPhone Ultra an edge in battery life over its rivals, unless Samsung makes significant software improvements in its upcoming phones.
