Led by SDAIA, World Summit on the Information Society Honors Six Saudi Projects
The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS 2026) honored six national projects led by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), in recognition of their excellence in developing innovative digital solutions that contribute to promoting responsible and trustworthy use of artificial intelligence, supporting digital transformation, and solidifying the Kingdom's position as a global model in employing modern technologies to serve sustainable development.
The recognition included the project 'Granting Accreditation Certificates to AI Service Providers' (AI Ethics Tags) under the ethical dimension of the information society category, which aims to encourage entities to adopt ethical practices by assessing compliance with AI principles, and the project 'Early Detection of Breast Cancer,' which contributes to supporting the health sector by employing the latest AI technologies for early detection, enhancing diagnostic accuracy, and improving the efficiency of medical procedures, under the category of ICT applications in various aspects of life.
Safe Digital Community. The honored projects included the 'Generative AI Accelerator Initiative (Ghayah),' which represents an ambitious model for supporting innovation, under the category of international and regional cooperation, along with the 'Tahseen' project, which employs AI to digitally restore and enhance the quality of Saudi historical media, and the 'Principles and Ethics of AI in the Media Sector' project under the media category, in addition to the 'Nafath National Digital Identity Platform' project in partnership with the Ministry of Interior, under the category of building trust and security in the use of ICT. This recognition reflects the advanced position the Kingdom has achieved in the fields of data, artificial intelligence, and digital innovation, and embodies the success of national efforts in developing technological solutions with local and international impact, contributing to building a safe digital community, enhancing trust in modern technologies, and expanding the scope of benefiting from AI applications across various sectors. This achievement also comes as an extension of the continuous successes achieved by SDAIA in international forums, through the development of pioneering national initiatives that enhance innovation, establish governance and ethics principles, and support international cooperation, thereby contributing to achieving the aspirations of Saudi Vision 2030 and supporting the goals of the Year of AI.
