Neo Space operates ground station to support air connectivity
Neo Space Group, a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund, announced the operation of three advanced ground stations in cooperation with Hughes Network Systems. This step aims to support the new generation of in-flight connectivity services, using the advanced Hughes JUPITER™ 3 system.
The new stations are distributed across strategic locations including Jeddah, Sintra, and the Canary Islands.
The group affirmed that this achievement represents a strategic step towards enhancing the air connectivity system in the Kingdom, in line with the ambitious goals of Saudi Vision 2030. These efforts aim to provide reliable and scalable connectivity in the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and Asia, reinforcing the Kingdom's role as a regional and global hub for advanced communication services.
The new stations are distributed in strategic locations including Jeddah, Sintra in Portugal, and the Canary Islands, supporting wide coverage and high reliability, especially on vital international flight corridors. Operational tests of these stations showed speeds exceeding 100 megabytes per second, with a maximum speed of 200 megabytes per second.
Tariq Metwally, Executive Vice President of Aviation at Neo Space Group, pointed out the importance of this achievement in redefining the future of air connectivity. He stressed the use of national space assets and linking them with advanced technology to enhance services provided to airlines and passengers alike.
