Geneva, Muharram 21, 1448 AH – July 6, 2026 SPA – Minister of Communications and Information Technology Eng. Abdullah bin Amer Al-Sawaha affirmed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince – may God preserve them – is continuing to solidify its role as a trusted partner for the international community in bridging AI gaps, enabling countries and societies to have fair access to its capabilities, in a way that serves humanity, protects the Earth, and opens new horizons for prosperity. This came during his address at the United Nations Global Dialogue on AI Governance in Geneva, attended by the President of the Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial Intelligence (SDAIA) Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Al-Ghamdi, the Governor of the Communications, Space and Technology Commission Eng. Haitham bin Abdulrahman Al-Ohali, the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the United Nations and International Organizations in Geneva Ambassador Abdulmohsen bin Majid bin Khathila, as well as government leaders, decision-makers, international organizations, the private sector, academia, and civil society, to discuss the future of AI governance and enhance international cooperation in building safe, reliable, and inclusive models. His Excellency noted that the concentration of advanced capabilities, AI data centers, and cutting-edge models in a limited number of countries imposes a shared international responsibility to ensure that the majority of the world's countries are not left out of the AI revolution, emphasizing that the Kingdom is working to connect West to East and North to South through its strategic location, the reliability of its digital infrastructure, and its global leadership in energy. His Excellency explained that the Kingdom, as the center of the Arab and Islamic world, is committed to developing technical enablers and language models that serve a wide segment of the world's population and contribute to enhancing linguistic and cultural inclusivity in AI applications, ensuring that this technology is more equitable and representative of different peoples and communities. His Excellency also pointed out that the Kingdom is proud of its foundational partnership with the United Nations in AI initiatives and its role in establishing the Digital Cooperation Organization, which contributes to enabling more than one billion people to access the best AI capabilities and strengthening multilateral cooperation to build a more inclusive and sustainable digital future. His Excellency stressed that the current stage requires a global shift from talking about internet access as a human right to working on making access to AI a human right, given its fateful impact on the future of humanity, protecting the planet, and creating new opportunities for development and prosperity. // End // 18:00 T M 0129
