Buraidah, 04 Safar 1448 AH, corresponding to July 18, 2026, SPA — The results of the 'Ibdathon 2026' hackathon, organized by the Samaa Creativity and Innovation Association in Buraidah, saw 139 innovators, male and female, representing 47 teams competing in three main tracks: Islamic financial solutions, smart cities and robotics, and AI-enhanced agricultural solutions. The 'Raqeeb' team won first place for a project that uses Wi-Fi signals to detect human presence and analyze movement without using cameras. The 'Rawa' Al-Nakheel' team came in second with a project aimed at improving water efficiency and sustainability of palm cultivation using artificial intelligence. The 'Sanabel' team won third place with a project for an agricultural data and investment intelligence platform that relies on farm data, satellite imagery, and field data to produce indicators supporting investment decisions. Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Samaa Creativity and Innovation Association, Ahmed Al-Tuwaijri, explained that the hackathon embodies the passion of the nation's sons and daughters for science and scientific research, expressing his gratitude to the Research, Development and Innovation Authority and the National Center for Non-Profit Sector Development for their support of the association. 'Ibdathon 2026' is part of initiatives aimed at promoting a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, and enabling innovators to develop technological solutions that contribute to supporting vital sectors, thereby enhancing the research, development and innovation ecosystem, and aligning with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 in building a knowledge- and innovation-based economy.
