It is not unusual for Twitter to compress images and videos, so you will find the details of a photo taken with a professional camera at lower quality than the original. However, the company last year introduced the ability to upload and view images in 4K resolution on its iOS app. Now, a year after this support, the option is finally available on Android.

More specifically, it is available on Twitter version 8.76 (beta), and soon it will be available on the official version for everyone. Meanwhile, the 'Upload 4K' option on Android requires pressing the menu button, unlike the upcoming method on iOS which requires long-pressing the image to reveal the option.

Aside from viewing high-resolution images, you can also upload 4K images. To do this, go to Settings and Privacy, then Data Usage, and then the Upload high-quality image option. From there, you can choose whether to upload high-resolution images only using mobile data, Wi-Fi, or simply whichever is available.

Once enabled, you will need to upload an image with a resolution higher than 8.3 megapixels (4K resolution) for it to appear in 4K on Twitter. Note that most phones these days can capture high-resolution images, so no professional camera is required. In conclusion, you can benefit from this support by sideloading the Twitter 8.76 beta APK from here, or you can wait a few days or weeks for it to become officially available to everyone.
