WhatsApp "Silent" Update Sparks Anger
WhatsApp's latest update, used by millions worldwide, has sparked a wave of criticism among iPhone users after changing the way messages appear in chats.
Instead of appearing directly as users were accustomed to, messages now slide in from the right side—a seemingly minor change that many find unappealing.
Although Meta, the app's owner, did not officially announce this addition, it quickly caught users' attention, becoming a widely discussed topic on social media.
Many expressed annoyance at the new animation, saying it distracts and affects the user experience.
One user wrote on X: "The new message send animation on WhatsApp for iOS makes me feel nauseous."
Another said: "The new message send animation on WhatsApp has completely lost my temper," according to the Daily Mail.
The feature began appearing last week in the WhatsApp version for iOS, adding new animations when sending messages as part of the app's ongoing interface updates.
However, WhatsApp allows those who dislike the change to easily disable the new animation via the app's settings. Simply open WhatsApp, go to Settings, select Appearance, then Animations, and toggle off Messages to revert to the traditional display users are accustomed to.
