YouTube has officially launched the fully customized version of the 'Multiview' feature on the YouTube TV app, after it appeared in a trial phase for some users last week, now expanding to all channels with full control over the viewing experience.

The feature will be one of the service's main strengths, especially for sports fans, as it allows watching multiple live streams simultaneously. With the new update, users can select any live channels and display them split on one screen, instead of being limited to preset suggestions as before.

The service offers a new tool called 'Multiview Builder,' which allows creating a fully customized viewing experience, including combining content from different categories. The tool provides suggested categories to facilitate selection, such as recommended content based on viewing habits, sports, news, shows, movies, as well as other live streams.

The feature imposes some limitations; it only supports live content and does not allow adding recorded or on-demand content to the multiview.

Regarding devices, Google indicated that the feature will be available on most TV devices, but a limited percentage of older devices – less than 5% – may not support the full customization experience. In that case, users can still access a simplified version of the feature focusing on major events such as American league games or world championships.

This step underscores Google's direction toward increasing viewing flexibility and providing a more personalized experience, especially with the growing demand for live content and its multiple sources, and the significant growth of YouTube's audience on TV devices.
