France's meteorological agency warned of an increased risk of wildfires across large parts of the country, with temperatures expected to reach 41 degrees Celsius, while 61 departments remain under an orange-level heatwave alert.

The agency clarified that the alert covers the Île-de-France region, which includes the capital Paris and its suburbs, in addition to several departments in central, western, southeastern, and southwestern France. It noted that the heatwave will intensify during the day and gradually extend northward and eastward, with the possibility of expanding the alert to additional areas.

The agency raised the risk level for wildfires to 'high' in 61 departments and to 'very high' in three departments in central, western, and southeastern France, coinciding with a wildfire in the Pyrénées-Orientales department that led to the evacuation of around 10,000 people.

It confirmed that fire risks will remain elevated tomorrow, with high danger levels persisting in dozens of departments, noting that the heatwave, drought, and current weather conditions contribute to the rapid ignition and spread of fires.
