Dr. Mohamed Ali Fahim, head of the Climate Change Information Center at the Agricultural Research Center in Egypt, warned that the country is entering one of the hottest periods of the summer, coinciding with the end of the first week of the Coptic month "Abib" which began on July 8. He stressed that the coming days will witness a remarkable rise in temperatures and humidity levels, posing a major challenge to agricultural crops and farmers.

Dominant thermal dome

Fahim explained, in a statement published on his official Facebook page, that Egypt is entering the peak of what is known as "humid heat," due to the formation of a thermal dome over the eastern Mediterranean and its extension to large areas of the Delta and Lower Egypt, coinciding with the deepening influence of the Indian monsoon depression.

He pointed out that these conditions will lead to an extreme heat wave accompanied by a significant rise in humidity levels, along with the appearance of light mist during the morning hours in the north of the country, especially on agricultural roads.

Effects of high heat

The head of the Climate Change Information Center stressed that this period is the most dangerous during the summer, as the sun's rays become almost vertical at the Tropic of Cancer, increasing the efficiency of solar radiation reaching the Earth's surface and raising heat stress rates for plants and humans, as well as increasing the likelihood of sunburn on fruits. He added that recording a temperature of 40 degrees Celsius in July is more dangerous than recording the same degree in May or June, due to high humidity and intense solar radiation during this time of year.

Weather in the coming hours

For its part, the General Authority of Meteorology revealed the most prominent expected weather phenomena in the coming hours, pointing to weak chances of low cloud formation in scattered areas of the northern coasts, Lower Egypt, Greater Cairo, and Canal cities, which may be accompanied by light drizzle with no significant effect. It also expected morning mist to form in areas from the north of the country to Greater Cairo, Canal cities, central Sinai, and northern Upper Egypt, occasionally dense on some roads.

Mist and winds

The authority expected weak chances of some low cloud formation in scattered areas of the northern coasts, Lower Egypt, Greater Cairo, and Canal cities, which may result in light and insignificant drizzle.

It also expected morning mist in areas from the north of the country to Greater Cairo, Canal cities, central Sinai, and northern Upper Egypt, occasionally dense on some roads.

The movement of winds will also be active in most areas intermittently, cooling the atmosphere, and winds will be active on some beaches of Sallum, Matrouh, El Alamein, Alexandria, Baltim, and Port Said, leading to high waves.
