On Wednesday, Al-Aqiq governorate in Al-Baha region witnessed heavy rainfall that caused valleys and streams to flow, helping to alleviate the dust wave that had affected the governorate in recent days, along with a noticeable drop in temperatures that prevailed in the region. The rains caused traffic disruptions on several roads, especially in Jafn al-A'la and Al-Lahyan, after floods and rising water levels led to a near-complete halt in traffic for hours, before authorities began monitoring the situation and working to restore normal traffic. Service reliability Several neighborhoods in Al-Aqiq governorate experienced power outages due to some networks being affected by the heavy rains, while a number of residents called for prompt handling of outages and enhancement of service reliability, noting that power cuts have become limited in modern cities, which requires upgrading the network infrastructure in the governorate. The residents also called for implementing more rainwater and flood drainage projects, and constructing culverts in locations where water pooling recurs, to help ensure smooth traffic flow and not hinder the access of emergency vehicles, ambulance services, and civil defense when needed. Hail showers In the same context, parts of Makkah, Al-Baha, Asir, and Jazan regions, extending to parts of Najran region, witnessed moderate to heavy thunder rains accompanied by hail showers and active winds, while the weather remained hot to extremely hot in the Eastern Region and parts of Riyadh and Madinah regions. Active wind stirring up dust and sand continued to affect parts of those regions, in addition to the Northern Borders, Al-Jawf, and Tabuk regions, and the eastern parts of the western and southwestern highlands of the Kingdom, leading to low horizontal visibility in some locations. The competent authorities called on citizens and residents to exercise caution, stay away from valley streams and flood gathering sites, and not risk crossing water-submerged roads, with the need to follow weather reports and warnings issued by the National Center of Meteorology and adhere to safety instructions to preserve lives and property.
